Home Grown Harvesting’s Composting Journey : From Scratch to Sustainability

Updated: Jan 18

At Home Grown Harvesting, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Our composting journey began from scratch, and we’re proud to share how we’ve grown and evolved.

Building Our Compost System

We started with just one small compost bay, and now we maintain three dedicated bays. This allows us to turn garden waste and kitchen scraps into rich, nutrient-dense compost that nourishes our soil.

Worm Liquid and Chicken Manure

We consistently use natural methods. Our worm liquid from our own worm farms and chicken manure from our happy chickens help create vibrant, healthy compost that feeds our garden.

Compostable Veggie Boxes

All of our veggie boxes are completely compostable. If you don’t compost at home, we encourage you to return them to us so we can recycle them properly. It’s all part of our commitment to a circular, sustainable approach.

Eco-Friendly Packaging

We go the extra mile with our packaging. The paint we use on our boxes is eco-friendly, and the tape is compostable. This ensures that every part of our packaging can return to the earth responsibly.

Regenerative Farming and No-Dig Garden Beds

In addition to composting, we embrace regenerative farming practices. Our garden beds are designed using a no-dig method, which helps maintain soil health, promotes biodiversity, and reduces soil erosion. This approach allows us to create a thriving, healthy garden that’s kind to the earth and yields beautiful produce.
